BECOME A MEMBER OF NDG COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Membership with the NDG Community Council means that you will be contributing in a meaningful way to an improved quality of life for everyone in NDG. As a member, you will be:

- Supporting access to information and services for all NDG residents;

- Helping make possible strong coordination between community services in our neighbourhood;

- Creating new opportunities for local development; and

- Having a space to make your voice heard in the future of our community.

Dear members,

2024 marks our 82nd anniversary of resident initiatives and collective work with community groups across all levels.  Last year, we were proud to have 164 members that supported and appreciated our work . The Council has been a pillar in this community, able to meet the needs of our most vulnerable residents thanks to you, our dedicated members.

By becoming a member you are supporting  multiple  projects and initiatives.  It would take far too long to list all our accomplishments: our annual report is over 78 pages long! However, I can tell you that the Council received help from around a hundred volunteers over the year, whether for tax clinics, Papa & Moi, mobilization, conversation group facilitation or office work and much more . You are also supporting our collective work which helps us collaborate and better use the resources in the community to improve the quality of life in NDG .

In this season of giving, in addition to renewing your membership, we'd like to appeal to your generosity once again for the 4th edition of December Together: this year we'll be supporting the most vulnerable and isolated residents through brunches and suppers between 23 December 2023 and 5 January 2024. Every dollar is reinvested in the community: meals are purchased from our local restaurateurs. So we're supporting our merchants as well as our residents. We need your help! Make a donation or sign up to volunteer and share the joy.

If you would like a refresher on what it means to be a member of the Council, in addition to having a positive impact on your neighborhood you have those membership benefits.

  • Vote at the Annual General Meeting;

  • Become a member of the Board of the Council, or join one of its committees;

  • Organisations have a page on the Council website;

  • Organisation requests for a letter of support are prioritized;

  • Priority to access a free space in our offices;

  • Regular updates to keep you informed, involved, and engaged; and

  • Support resident's initiatives.

Keep in mind, what you get at the council (member or not) is a voice. Ultimately, isn't that what we all need?
