Service CAMSI au CLSC Benny-Farm

Un nouveau Centre d’accès et de récupération du matériel stérile d’injection (CAMSI) s’adressant aux personnes utilisatrices de drogues injectable a ouvert ses portes en juin dernier au CLSC de Benny Farm situé au 6484, Avenue Monkland, dans le quartier NotreDame-de-Grâce à Montréal.

Outre la distribution de matériel stérile d'injection et la récupération du matériel utilisé dans le but de réduire la transmission d’ITSS, le mandat d’un CAMSI consiste également à créer un lien avec les personnes utilisatrices de drogues injectables, à les informer et les soutenir dans une optique de réduction des méfaits et à les orienter vers les services appropriés si le besoin est manifesté.

L’ensemble de l’équipe d’accueil est formée à cette fin. Les personnes souhaitant avoir accès à du matériel n’ont qu’à se présenter à la borne d’accueil du CLSC et sélectionner l’icône neutre (voir photo), la personne sera accueillie sans attente. Le service est gratuit, confidentiel et ne nécessite pas d’ouverture de dossier.

Le CAMSI du CLSC de Benny Farm est opérationnel du lundi au vendredi de 8 h à 18 h. Veuillez cependant prendre note du fait que le CAMSI sera fermé les fins de semaine et les jours fériés. Presentation of the CAMSI service at CLSC Benny-Farm

A new Injection Equipment Access Center (CAMSI) for people who inject drugs opened last June at the CLSC Benny Farm located at 6484 Monkland Avenue in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. People who inject drugs with used equipment are at greater risk of contracting certain sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) such as hepatitis B and C and HIV.

Distributing new injection equipment to people who use drugs encourages them to adopt safer practices and reduces the risk of catching or spreading STBBIs. In addition to the distribution of sterile injection equipment and the collection of used material in order to reduce the transmission of STBBIs, the CAMSI's mandate is also to create a link with people who inject drugs, to inform them and to support them with a harm reduction lens, and to refer them to appropriate services. The entire reception team is trained for this purpose. Anyone wanting injection equipment should go to the CLSC reception area and select the neutral icon (see picture) to speak to reception; the person will be welcomed without waiting.

The service is free, confidential and does not require opening a file.

The CAMSI at Benny Farm is operational Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm. Please note, however, that the CAMSI will be closed on weekends and holidays. You will find an information sheet for the promotion of the service attached.
